Lit. Analysis : Catcher In The Rye

1. In the Catcher In The Rye the author  used foreshadowing, for example when the novel opens, Holden tells how he has been hospitalized for a nervous breakdown. Point of view also is used, Holden narrates the novel in first person describing the events he has experienced in the past.

2.The author does use lengthy descriptions. The novel is set over a three day period in the late 1940s. He talks about his weekend in Pennsylvania, and then moves onto his life is New York .

3.Holden's tone changes throughout the whole book . He finds nearly everything about life depressing. Holden's tone throughout the novel is sad, he talks about his brother Allies baseball mit who died from cancer and about how hates leaving places because it makes him sad.

4.Holden hates other characters. He thinks the world is full of phonies and  in some ways is a hyprocrite because he himself is a phony.

5.This book was a big success that the author participated in many interviews and hit was a throughout the world. Here's an interview that he had : NEW YORK –  J.D. Salinger, the legendary author, youth hero and fugitive from fame whose "The Catcher in the Rye" shocked and inspired a world he increasingly shunned, has died. He was 91.Salinger died of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, the author's son said in a statement from Salinger's longtime literary representative, Harold Ober Agency. He had lived for decades in self-imposed isolation in the small, remote house in Cornish, N.H.

The Cather in the rye will leave me with the memory of what you should do before you go to far. To realize what's in front of you and to never forget the true value of life it's self . Please take that back with your self also never forget to put your self and education first to better your self.

Masterpiece/open source learning essay

I believe me personally honor the trust you put into us at the beginning of the year. But I feel I let you down and my self I have surprised my self somewhat though on how hard I can work . Example: not in class but with my master piece  product . The queen campaign I feel I learned a lot through this campaign and I will be honored if you would let me help you next year as a mentor .

My learning and love for animals and COWS will live forever I always learn something new and I don't count on that stopping. I hope you see the potential in me to proceed in my chosen career and passion . I hope to come back in 9 years and show you that I am a large animal chiropractor . And that it was this course that got me most prepared for college. I will always keep this burning passion.

Laugh oh I always laughed . I laughed at the fact that a teacher admitting that he didn't know something for once I honor you for admitting that . I know cows aren't really your thing but you let me show you my way of thinking. I also laughed when me and Alicia would watch our bloopers so many times that we couldn't breath because we were laughing so hard . I laughed a lot and thank you for that.

My favorite presentation would be joe's about the army . I truly respect that Man for wanting to serve. Rachael well she sure can sing and that will always be her passion . She said she wouldn't want to do that for a living but one day that gal is going to be on stage. Dylan well this boy even turned me down when I tried to motivate him and no one I repeat No One turns me down but now that he is going to try his very best I am proud of him. Judith and amparo wow who knew that someone could go from kick boxing to compassion well these girls did amazing even if they couldn't go to juvi. And the last one billy and Elizabeth well I wasn't there the day they presented but I did help them along the way and I must say the whole swimmers game there's a lot more too it than you think. And they both want to be coaches and I expect them to pursue that dream . I hope they both coach there teams and they'll have to compete one day .

I am a hero in one way or another well at least I hope so ! I feel what I did with high school and and with the queen contest I have completed this journey. I raised 74,000 dollars for a charity who couldn't do it for them selves. Who can say they have ever done that for there community. I got to help one of my new friends at VTC cowboy matt an individual that has prospered threw there program .

I would like to personally (online) to thank you ! Dr. Preston I know I might have been a joy in class but online I was always absent thank you for continuing to believe in me. I will be back don't worry again thank you , you are an outstanding teacher and make sure to get some other teachers on board for this way of teaching because it's life changing and will make the future seem easier. Well this is my last words I promise the life I chose for after high school had to be determined during high school so for those who might read this and are not done with high school yet try now and succeed later.

Lit. Analysis life of pi

1.In my eyes life of pi is a book about the true self survival in the world. This book is about a man choosing a path whether his parents think it's the right path or not.

2.The theme would have to be strength in survival in the world.

3."This was the terrible cost of Richard Parker. He gave me a life, my own, but at the expense of taking one. He ripped the flesh off the man's frame and cracked his bones. The smell of blood filled my nose. Something in me died then that has never come back to life."
Chapter 90, page 255

"Animals in the wild lead lives of compulsion and necessity within an unforgiving social hierarchy in an environment where the supply of fear is high and the supply of food low and where territory must constantly be defended and parasites forever endured. What is the meaning of freedom in such a context? Animals in the wild are, in practice, free neither in space nor in time, nor in their personal relations."
Chapter 4, page 16

"I can well imagine an atheist's last words: 'White, white! L-L-Love! My God!'-and the deathbed leap of faith. Whereas the agnostic, if he stays true to his reasonable self, if he stays beholden to dry, yeastless factuality, might try to explain the warm light bathing him by saying, 'Possibly a f-f-failing oxygenation of the b-b-brain,' and, to the very end, lack imagination and miss the better story."
Chapter 22, page 64
All there of these quotes show his tone . The tone he uses fully stresses the theme I addressed in the above questions.

4. He really touched the purpose of the theme , the tone , and the sole story .

1.Piscine is the narrator and protagonist, known as Pi. He is a small man with black ish hair.He grew up in one place as a child but as a teenager moved to canada.

Gita is Pi's mother, a normally calm and unruffled woman. She dies in the sinking of the Tsimtsum.

2. When the author is switching between characters he stays with the same out look.

3. Static mostly the same throughout the book. Flat character threw this book he stays with his opinion and true to his self.

4. I felt like I met a person. Only for the fact that it was such a real book like a life in a book.

Non fiction literary analysis "The Scarlet Letter"

1) a.
In my nonfiction book the story line was about a lAdy who's husband was away at sea for a ten years so she basically cheated on him in today's terms . But back then it was called committing  adultery. After a while she begin to notice she was pregnant and not with her husbands baby. When she is publicly humiliated with her baby in the middle of the town square her husband had returned but he looked completely different and so he used a different name so I wasn't tied to the adultery committer (his wife). Through out the story her husband try's to find out who it was and why they weren't publicly humiliated with her. He then found out it was the young preacher. he would not come clean about what he had done. The husband started to mess with the preacher. Until the stress got to the preacher . He ended up literally dying from his broken heart that he disobeyed everything he believed in.

b.
About a woman who committed adultery and the journey of her unbearable pain that she confidently works through and prospers for the rest of her life.

2. The author decided to write about this woman and her story because no matter what day and age this book would still tell the truth of society.

3.i started reading this book a few years ago in another English class and I actually liked the plot line but we never got to finish it but now I have and I'm proud I got to finish it.

4. There has been 3 situations that I have seen in the past year of girls having a baby one not knowing the father , second knowing and told everyone , and last the one who knew who it was but wouldn't rat him out until he stood up and say it was his and then he might not have died but just like the preacher he left the child and mother.

1. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but I do know there was two books about this event and they were written very similar yet I know the authors have major influence on them. Like this author I think took the more dramatic version but I didn't mind because I believe that's what made this book.

2. Hester pryne- the woman who committed adultery she is a real strong character I don't believe she could have been a fictional character.
Pearl- the daughter of Hester . Everyone was afraid of this devils product and i happen to know a little girl who is as evil as pearl and is who I pictured as pearl when I was reading the book.
Roger chillingsworth- the man who was the husband of Hester who left for ten years . He would be the ideal fictional character! He would be a daemon of some sort trust me this man manipulated so many and he was the true sinner of this book.

3. All these people separated would not be interesting but because so many are inner tied together somehow it creates a story that will keep you interested.

The Cross road between should and must

"Should of could of would of but I didn't " my dad always says that, but really maybe didn't is their must not they must not do that because it's not what they want . The "should" in life is what others want from you or what they think is best for you. In a different light the "must" is what you desire what you feel is the right thing to do at the time. The challenge that most have is deciding whether it is a must or a should, once you decide then you will know what path to take and with that we live our lives wether it be through the should or must.

My Cattle Test

My Test is created for a face to face conversation or even a demonstration. The way the test goes is I ask a question and if you get it correct you go one way and if you get it wrong you take a different route on the test . My test is created to test your knowledge about cattle so for example it would be for anyone that shows cattle at the fair or has any partake with cattle . I could not come up with the test online but if you would like me to demonstrate it in class I would be more than willing too . I have found a real similar quiz online that would ask the same questions as I include in my test .

welcome to the interdisciplinarity

In order to become a veterinarian I need to follow these specific steps:

  1. Train along side a veterinarian (internship): Help him/her prepare their equipment to perform treatment. Also take down notes to make the billing easier on the vet. Observe while the vet is curing or performing on the animal. And if you're lucky you may perform slight procedures. 25% of the accepted students to vet college had internships and so it will make you look more of a valuable student that they will want you to attend their school.
  2. Attend college for general education
  3. Go to veterinarian college: First you need to obtain a bachelors degree, Second earn a graduates degree similar too medical school. You can pick and choose a major that interest you because vet schools don't require specific major to graduate. Now you are ready to attend vet school.
  4. Take a look at what classes and test you need to complete to get into vet college: once you look at the institution you want to attend refer to the classes they recommend you taking because each college is different and most have a broad variety of classes but only a few test they will accept. Most will accept GRE but some will accept the MCAT.
  5. Graduate from veterinarian school: You will have received your Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Now you will look into Large Animal Vet school. Their are 27 in the U.S. but their are only a few dedicated to just large animal vets.
  6. Complete the residency program: This program will define whether you are going to become a large or small animal vet. Most students desire to work with cattle, horses and sheep.
  7. Take the North American Veterinary licensing exam: This 360 multiple choice questions test is only offered three times a year. And don't try and just wing it because it covers everything you have learned within your past 6 years.
